Disturbing Personalities

In collaboration with the Portman Clinic

This is an innovative programme linking high quality training with access to ongoing consultation. It provides continuing professional development opportunities for practitioners working with violent, disturbed and personality disordered people.

It is aimed at practitioners from a wide range of backgrounds in adult and child & adolescent settings.  The aim of programme is to bring together an understanding of the emotional impact of disturbance with safe and effective practice and service management.

Notice of Third Study Day,  3rd July 2012

The “Untreatable” Patient
Stan Rusczynski and Monica Lanyado (BAP)

How do we understand the issue of treatability/untreatability when the simple dichotomy between the mad and the bad, as was prevalent 15 or 20 years ago, is now seen to be inappropriate?

How do we develop our understanding and adapt our technique to accommodate especially demanding patients/clients, adults and children, whose expression of their conflicts can often be very disturbing and difficult to those around them?

Venue: NSCAP
Study day: £85 inc lunch and refreshments
