News ‘Health Education England Equality Diversity and Inclusion Bursary fund available for 2023-24’

The Northern School of Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy (NSCAP) is inviting applications for the Health Education England (HEE) Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Bursary fund for students on the Psychoanalytic Observational Studies Programme at NSCAP for the academic year 2023-24. This bursary is available to current eligible students who did not apply for the bursary during the 2022-23 academic year and new students who have been offered a place on the programme starting in September 2023.

The reliance on students to self-fund the pre-clinical stage of the Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy Training is recognised as a significant barrier to increasing the diversity of the profession. The NHS long term plan aims to create a sustainable workforce supply of Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists that is representative of the diversity of the communities it serves. This bursary fund aims to deliver measurable improvements in equity and inclusion for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic applicants to Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy trainings within the bounds of the Equality Act 2010 and to widen access to the profession from currently under-represented groups, communities and regions.

Different levels of bursary are available i.e. partially-funded, including contributions to course fees, travel costs and/or funding of personal psychoanalytic psychotherapy dependent on need and demand.

Please note that new students must have received an offer of a place on the PGDip/Masters in Psychoanalytic Observational Studies at NSCAP before applying for the bursary. For further information regarding the Psychoanalytic Observational Studies programme and how to apply please see: https://www.nscap.org.uk/content/psychoanalytic-observational-studies

The deadline for submitting the EDI bursary is Monday, 10th July.
